Plan and queue
Plan is the calendar of everything planned, and the place where posts get their time. Its sections are the calendar, Campaigns and History.
The calendar
Choose Week, Month or List. Move with the arrows and Today, or with the keys ← and →, T for today and N for a new post (not while you're typing).
Each post is a card with its time, its title, its networks, a dot for where it stands (scheduled, in review, posted, didn't post), and its campaign's color. Past days are tinted. Open queue times show as dashed "open" slots; choosing one starts a new post at that time.
Filters narrow the calendar by channel, campaign or status. Choosing a campaign dims everything else, so its posts stand out.
Unscheduled
Beside the calendar (on a phone, in the bar that opens it) is what has no time yet:
- Approved: ready to go, each with Add to queue.
- In review: with whose turn it is.
- Drafts: still being written.
Giving a post its time
- When asking for approval: pick the time in Create's When to post. It is scheduled when the last approval comes in.
- Drag a scheduled post to another day: it keeps its time. Drag an approved post onto a day: it takes that day's next open queue time, or asks for a time. Each move has Undo.
- Add to queue sends an approved post to the next open queue time.
- Fill the queue shows where your approved posts would go in this week's free queue times, then places them, with Undo.
- On the post's page, Change picks another time, and Unschedule takes it off the calendar and keeps it approved.
Times are in the workspace's time zone, which an owner or admin sets in Settings → General.
Queue times
A queue is a set of times each week, for example Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:00. Approved posts added to the queue take the next open one, in order. Open Queue times from the Plan's menu.
- Add a time to a day, or remove one.
- Use best times fills the times from when your audience reacts most. It needs results from at least 10 posts in the last 90 days.
- Pause the queue (the Queue switch at the top) holds what is queued. Queued posts wait, and nothing is deleted. Switch it back on and they go out at their next times.
Labels
A label is a name and a color you give a post in Create, under More options; it shows on the post's card. Labels in the Plan's menu lists them with how many posts carry each, and Rename everywhere changes the name on every post that has it.
New label makes one before any post has it, with a name of up to 40 characters and a color, so the team can pick it in Create. A label no post has can be Removed; one that posts have stays in the list, and removing never changes a post.
Repeating posts
Choose Repeat in Create's When to post, or on a posted post's Results, and pick every 2, 4, 8 or 13 weeks. Each time, a copy comes back as a draft for review; nothing repeats by itself. Repeating posts in the Plan's menu lists them with when the next copy comes, and changes or stops each one.
Sharing the plan
Share makes two private links:
- Client calendar link: a page with what's planned, by day. Clients can see it, not change it. Include results adds the last 14 days of results to it.
- Calendar feed link: adds the plan to Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
The client calendar, its feed and its results come with Team and up, and your logo on the calendar page with Agency and up. On Solo the links are kept but don't open; they open again on a bigger plan.
Make new links replaces both. Anyone using the old ones loses them at once, so send the new ones to whoever should keep seeing the plan.
When a post goes out
At its time, each channel posts on its own. The post's page shows each channel under Delivery: posted, with View on the network, or didn't post, with the reason.
If a network has a passing problem (it is busy, or asks us to slow down), Release Social tries again by itself: up to five tries, the first a minute later, waiting longer each time up to an hour, and 15 minutes when a network says to slow down. Try again goes at once.
If it can't post, the channel says Didn't post, with the reason in words and the fix: for example "Instagram signed you out." with Reconnect Instagram. Fix it, then choose Try again. Only that channel is tried; the others aren't touched. Details shows every attempt and what the network said, with the codes to quote if you ask the network about it.
A post that didn't post shows on Home under Needs you, in Inbox → Updates, and in Slack when your workspace has it. Approvers are emailed when it's their turn, and owners when a post didn't post.
Check it is still there on a posted post's menu asks each network whether the post is still up.
History
History lists everything that went out or didn't, newest first, grouped by day. Filter by All, Posted or Didn't post, and by channel, campaign and month. A Story shows how long it has left. Choosing a row opens its post at Delivery.
Archived posts
Archive on a post's menu puts it out of the way, with Undo. Archived posts in the Plan's menu lists them. Restore brings a post back as a draft that needs approval again. Delete for good removes a post that never went out; it asks first, and it can't be undone.
When posting is paused
Posting pauses when the free trial ends without a plan, a payment hasn't gone through for seven days, or a cancelled plan ends. Scheduling and posting stop; writing, approvals and Insights keep working. A banner says why and who can fix it.
Once it is sorted out, posts whose time passed meanwhile are never sent late by themselves, because an old "see you tonight" could confuse people. They wait on Posting is back on, where you choose Post now or a new time for each.
