Inbox

Inbox is where what needs a person lands, in three sections, each with its count: Approvals (posts waiting for your yes), Audience (people waiting for a reply) and Updates (things to know). It opens on Approvals when it's your turn, and on Audience otherwise.

Approvals

Only people whose role can approve see this section. Your turn comes first, with late posts marked Overdue; then Waiting for others, with whose turn it is and whether a client link was sent.

Open a post to read it and approve it on its page, or choose Select to approve or send back up to 50 at once. Each still goes through its approvers in order, and sending back needs a note, which each writer sees on top of their post. Posts waiting for someone else can't be chosen. Approving many at once comes with Team and up. See Approvals for the whole story.

Audience

Comments, messages, mentions and Google reviews from your channels land here. Filter by All, Comments, Messages, Reviews or Assigned to me. Check for new asks each network for the latest.

Each conversation shows the person, the network, and a dot while it waits for a reply. On a phone the list and a conversation are separate pages.

Replying

Write in the reply box and choose Send (or ⌘↵). The box says where the reply goes: publicly as your account under a comment or review, or privately in a message.

  • A saved reply fills the box. Change it if you like; nothing is sent until Send.
  • A mention can't be answered from Release Social. What you write is kept with it, not sent.
  • Only people whose role can post reply and hide.

Assigning and hiding

  • Assign hands a conversation to a teammate, so it's clear who answers. Assigned to me lists yours. Assigning comes with Team and up; on Solo, an assignment made before can still be taken off.
  • Hide hides a comment from the public on the network, with Undo; it stays in Inbox, marked Hidden. Instagram, Facebook and Threads allow it.

Saved replies

Answers to common questions, kept in Library → Replies or from a conversation's menu. Choosing one fills the reply box.

Updates

Mentions of you, posts that didn't post, repeats that came back for review, and messages from teammates asking for your help, grouped by day. Each has what to do: Fix, Review or Open. Mark all read clears the count.

Being told

  • In the app: Home's Needs you and the Inbox count, which adds the approvals waiting for you to your unread updates.
  • By email: approvers when it's their turn, and owners when a post didn't post. An owner or admin sets this in Settings → Notifications.
  • Daily summary: one email a day, after 08:00, only when something is new: what needs you and what went out. Turn it on or off in Your account.
  • Slack: an owner or admin can send approval turns and posts that didn't post to one Slack channel, with an incoming webhook in Settings → Notifications. A Slack problem never stops a post. Slack comes with Team and up; on a smaller plan the address is kept but nothing is sent.

How long it is kept

Inbox items are kept for the workspace's life, unless an owner chooses a limit in Settings → Data.
